I strive to craft authentic stories that strengthen black women’s voices

My inspiration comes from life experiences. The pain, sorrow, happiness and loss provokes storytelling within the depths of my soul that heavily inspires my creativity. I see the beauty in everything that surrounds me as I believe this is the only way to truly feel, smell, listen, touch and taste love and experience life wholeheartedly.

The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling but in rising every time we fall

Nelson Mandela

Telling stories that breathe air into diversity in storytelling is how I approach my work.

Before I embark on a writing project all of these questions must be answered first.

My writing process:

What story do I want to tell?

How do I feel about the topic?

What audience am I writing for?

What research is needed?

What genre is most appropriate for the subject matter?

What is my overall goal for writing the story?

How will I approach the story (what methods)?

How much time will it take for the entire writing project?

I write everything out on paper beforehand. This is how I personally throw myself into the worlds that I create and get to know my characters.
